LYNNDALE AMATEURS.

FIXTURES. Saturday, September 15. —Harbour Race Championship. One of the best club races of the season resulted when the Lynndale Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club conducted its weekly races on its circuit at New Lynn last Saturday. Although the entries were not great the pace was there. Both the junior and senior lap and course records were broken.. The junior race of three laps proved very exciting. Geo. Holton and Gordon Helliwell, the scratch pair, made the pace merry over the first lap, for Holton to lead over by half a wheel to break the existing lap record of 10.1, put up by the Auckland junior champion Ross Jones, of the Takapuna Club, by Is. Both continuing strongly, Helliwell outsprinted hie co-marker, to gain fastest time, clipping 2.48 off the three-lap record held by- himself. . Ray Hansen (2.45) was up with the leaders entering the last lap and riding strongly came home 24s ahead of his comarker, to win first place. This puts him well in the lead for the points cup. Percy Johpson (2.45) has steadily been in a place since his commencement, his second place being well deserved. Robert Kircher (3.30), like his brother, has been prominent in the places of late. He was second last week and third this A most popular win was gained by Bill Kircher (3.0) in the senior event of two laps. Taking the lead in the initial lap, he rode convincingly to win comfortably from his co-marker in 21.26. Bill should be prominent in the big race next week. Lester Mac Donald (3.0) for his second ride gave a good account of himself, and with more experience and a lower gear should perform well. Graham Hughes (15s) gave his best performance to date by gaining third place. He broke the lap record, reducing it to 9.30 and making the course record now 19.21. On his present form he will be a Btrong contender for the championship next week. Good over middle distances, it will be interesting to see how he stands the distance. Roy Campbell (1.15) was fourth with a fair handicap. This rider should be well to the fore next week. Colin Gooder (scr) was second fastest in 20.14. The club champion is fitter than ever and barring accidents will be very hard to beat. E. P Smith (455) was third fastest in 20.26. Pat can be upon as a possible winner, a*s he is a sticker for hard work. An excellent entry of 37 riders has been nominated for the round-tlie-harbour championship race, to be held next Saturday. starting at 2 p.m. at the Esplanade Hotel, Devonport, and finishing at Folke Street, New Lynn. The presentation is scheduled for October 10.
