T. TIERNEY BEATS D. JONES. Ihe Auckland provincial amateur billiards championship for the Billiards, Limited Shield was continued last evening, when T. Tierney (Tuakau) defeated D' Jones (Auckland). After a bad start, Tierney played very attractively in compiling all-round breaks of 29, 38 and 48, and led by close on 100 points at the 100 mark. Jones reduced the deficit somewhat with breaks of 20 and 26 and, adding a further 30, brought his score within six points of that of his opponent. The players ran level for a time, but a red-ball break of 35 gave Tierney a good lead, which he increased with breaks of 26, 38 and 35. Tierney eventually ran to points with a lead of 13.3. The filial scores were:—T. Tiernev 500, D. .Tones 367. E. J. Goodhew will meet A. A. OldficM this evening.
