FLAMES SPREAD RAPIDLY.
GOOD WORK BY BRIGADE,

GREYMOUTH, this day.
Fire destroyed the confectionery shop and residence of Mrs. Margaret Mayo, in Tainui Street, at 12.15 a.m. this morning, and only excellent work by .the Greymouth Fire Brigade prevented the destruction of two contiguous buildings, the local drill hall and a residence.
Fortunately the family were away, otherwise a tragedy may have occurred, as the flames eoon had a great hold.
