TALLOW AND HEMP. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The.. Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated August 25, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, Lonjlon: — Tallow.—Poor demand at auction. Of 1402 casks offered 222 were sold, at from 6d to 1/ per cut advance on the prices ruling at last auctions. Present spot quoI ta'tions are:—Mutton: Kino, 22/; fair to 'good, 18/0 to 21/; dark to d.ull, 10/ to J 16/0. Beef: Sweet and/or mixed, 19/ to |20/; fair to good, 17/ to 18/13; dark to ; dull, 15/6 to 16/0. Mixed: Fair to good, 17/ to 18/0: dark to dull, 15/ to 16/0. Gut. etc.: IS/ to 16/6. Hemp.—Manila: Market quiet, but steady. K grade or September-November shipment valued at £12 1.5/. ISieal: Market quiet and easier. August-October shipment quoted sellers at £13 17/0. DOLLAR AND FRANC. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, August 28. The American dollar is quoted at 5.05 7-16 to the pound sterling, and the franc at 75% d. DAIRY PRODUCE. Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Co. have received the following cable from their London principals, Slefsre. Trengrouse and Nathan, Tooley Street, dated August 28:—Butter: 79/ per ewt. Quiet. New Zealand Producers' Co-operativ* Marketing Association have to-day received a cable from their London office, dated August 28, and reading as follows:--Both markets quiet. Butter: New Zealand, 78/ to 79/ per cwt; Danish. ]00'. Cheese: White, 49/ Tier cwt; coloured, 45/6. - WHEAT CARGOES, ETC. LONDON, August 27. ■ Cargoes are stead}-. Parcels are in small request.
