HOCKEY.
AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. ANOTHER SHIELD GAME THIS WEEK. At last night's meeting of the Auckland Hockey Association advice was received that the Manawatu representative team would arrive in Auckland on Friday morning for Saturday's challenge for the New Zealand Shield. It was reported that arrangements had been made for the visiting team to stay at the Hotel Auckland. It was decided that botli the visitors and the Auckland team would be entertained at a dinner at the Hotel Auckland on Saturday evening.
Mr. H. E. Watts was appointed referee for the representative match against Manawatu at Remuera on Saturday, while Mr. A. Playlc was appointed to referee the curtain-raiser game between the Navy and tho Auckland B representatives. Mr. W. Newshani was chosen iis manager of tho Auckland A team and C. Watts captain.
It was resolved to postpone all eenior games next Saturday on account of the representative fixture. •
Messrs. K. Moore, N. .T. Wileon and H. E. Watts were appointed selectors to choose the Kest of Auckland team to meet the Auckland representative side for the Selectors' Cup on September 20.
The executive agreed to close the third grade championship, Soinorville being declared winners, and to etart the knockout competition next Saturday. The Manawatu Eleven. Manawatu hockey team to play Auckland on Saturday for the "New Zealand Challenge Shield:—O'Brien, \V. Lundy, R. Hoare, L. Monteith, V. Turner, J. Eekersley, N. Hansen, M. By era, W. Sutton, K.
