SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
Mrs. J. A. Maher was hoetess at a party held in the Kingsford Hall, Otahuhu, on Saturday evening in honour of the coming of age of her only daughter, Ruby. Mrs. Maher, wearing a black panne velvet frock, received ower 80 guests. Miss Maher wore lemon crinkled crepe. Among those present were: Mesdamea T. Drunim, C. Frost, H. Johnston, D. McNiel, E. Frost, L. Clark, R. Martin, and Misees Kathleen Boswell, Magaret Harris, Kathleen Bailay, Mary Stansfield, Katie Nobbs, Alma Walsh, Doreen Box, Claire Darby, Vera Druinin, Gay Hayden, Molly Wren, Elva Garter, Doris Nobbs, Olga Whitelaw, Kathleen Kelly, Elsie Rowe, Edna Keily, Rona Healey, Zita Cahill, Thelnia Whitelaw, L. Harper, F. Hallworth, Vera Harris, and Mac Donald.
Miss Lily Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Johnson, of Grey Lynn, was the guest of honour at a twentyfiret birthday party given by her parents on Saturday night at their home in Warnoek Road. The room was gaily decorated for the occasion in blue and amber, balloons and lanterns. There were 70 guests present, and things went with a swing from start to finish, Mr. Fred Collins acting- as master of ceremonies. During the evening musical items were rendered by Miss T. Ranger and Mr. G. Lowson, while songs ware contributed by Mr. B. Wright. Prizes were given for the various competition*, and were won by Miss M. Vaughan, Mils M. Spink, Mr. S. Sefton, and Mr. H. Burton.
