POLICE TO RESCUE.
Heavy Loss of Life in Indian
Floods.
GANGES NOW FALLING,
(Received 10.30 a.m.) CALCUTTA, August 27.
The police are rescuing hundreds of refugees cut off by floods in Bihar. The situation is worst at Arrah and Monghyr, in Bengal, where the loss of human life must havo been considerable. Thousands of head of cattle were drowned and there was tremendous material , devastation. The Ganges is now reported to be falling.
