WOMEN'S DIVISION.
WAITEMATA EXECUTIVE MEETING
The quarterly meeting of the Waitemata provincial executive of the women's division of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held in the Farmers' Trading Company's board room on Friday. The president, Mrs. Noel Adams, presided over 50 delegates, representing 22 branches. Mrs. Adams stated that the special housekeepers' fund had reached the amount of £100, and members of one year's standing could now participate in the benefits to be derived therefrom, the matter of supplementing the fund to be left to the discretion of the branches. Mrs. Bryan, secretary of the housekeepers' section, reported that 12 positions had been tilled during the quarter by the housekeepers, and letters of appreciation had been received from employers indicating the very excellent work which was being done in this direction. Brandies were asked to notify the provincial secretary of the dates of their general meetings so that in future matters could be so arranged that there would be no clashing. Mrs. Adams gave a very comprehensive and interesting report of the business transacted at the Dominion Conference recently held in Wellington, at which her Exeelleey, Lady Bledisloe, performed the opening ceremony. Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell, vice-president of the council, reported upon the social side of the conference. Delegates, she said, were entertained at afternoon tea by the Prime Minister and Mrs. Forbes, their Excellencies also attending. The Wellington branch, assisted by members of the Pioneer Club, entertained the visiting delegates at a social evening. The birthday cake which graced the occasion had been presented by the Waitemata Provincial Council. KAUKAPAKAPA. At a recent meeting the president, Mrs. Osbaldiston, reported on the meeting of the committee of the Waitemata provincial executive, and mentioned that the executive's housekeeping fund had reached the sum of £98. The social hour was. devoted to music. Solos and duets were rendered by various members. MANGATAWHIRI. The president, Mrs. G. Lyons, presided at the monthly meeting of the branch, which was held in the Mangatawhiri Hall. A demonstration of making moccasins out of old felt hats was given by Mrs. F. Twining. Items by Mrs. Frank Pope and the younger members were enjoyed. Knitted squares, to be made into warm cot quilts, were handed in bv members. Mrs. Lyons and Miss Ethel'Mcllroy acted as hostesses. POKENO. There was a large gathering of members at the Pokeno Town Hall for the monthly meeting of the Pokeno branch. The president, Mrs. J. Dean, welcomed Mrs. W. J. D. Sharp, president of the Women's Institute at Eamarama, and the president and members of the Mercer branch of the division. Mrs. Sharp gave demonstrations of bouquet making and of papier mache work. The points competition for a child's knitted garment resulted: Miss Lalor 1. Mrs. McAnulty 2 Mrs. R. O'Leary 3. Three songs were pleasingly rendered by the junior members, and tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs. A. E. Brown and Mrs. J. Slipper.
