HERNE BAY CLUB

SECOND ANNUAL MEETING.

The Heme Bay Junior Sailing Club held their annual meeting on Saturday evening, the commodore, Mr. Geo. Dennes, presiding over a good attendance of junior and senior members.

The chairman thanked the members and residents of the district for their support and the encouragement given to the boys to become good yachtsmen. The boys had plaved the game and were very keen to leai-n the art o£ sailing. On several occasions they had taken their sisters in a race, and he saw no reason why the gins should not become as good sailors as the boys Mr. Dennes also referred to the help civen by sister clubs, the old boys' races between members of various clubs being a feature of the season's activities. Percy, when moving the adoption of the balance-sheet, congratulated the executive officers, especially ulessrs. (i. and 1. Dennes on the verv fiuccossful season, and the boys in their smart handling of their boats. He also congratulated the club on the launching of the Silver Fern class ol 12ft sailing dinghies, find said they would become a feature of the club's racing as two other boats were now being built. . The following officers were elected for the coming season:—Patron, Mr. Ceo Hodgson : vice-patrons, Messrs. C. M. Croft and W. J. Hoklsworth; president, Captain W R Percy ; commodore, Mr. Geo. Dennes; vice-commodore. Master Geoff Hodgson; rear-commodore, Master J. Faire; hon. secretary, Master Colin Dennes; hon. treasurer, Master N. Shaw; starter, judge, timekeeper and hnndlcapper, Mr. Ivo Dennes: assistant. Captain Percy; auditors, Masters E. Pickering and J. McAndrew; committee, Masters Brian Faire. Desmond Hurley Robert Campbell, John Rew, Garth Hughes, Denis O'Halloran and Robert Mr' W A. Wilkinson was elected an honorary life member. A vote of thanks to Mr. G. Dennes for placing his home' at the disposal of the club for meetings, concluded the meeting.
