TEST AT THE OVAL.

LARWOOD AND NOTTS FIXTURE. LON T DON, August 5. The Board of Control has decided that the hours of play in the final Test cricket match to bo commenced at the Oval' on August 18 shall be from 11.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. each day. It is understood that this concession has been made as the result of representations from the Australians; who pointed out that the strain of long hours in a Test match to be played to a finish, possibly in a heat-wave, would be much too heavy.

The English captain, Wyatt, was hurt when batting at Birmingham. A ball Struck his hand near the injured thumb and caused the nail to bleed. Sutcllffe had an attack of giddiness when batting on Saturday for Yorkshire against Lancashire, at Old Trafford. Ho retired but resumed later. The captain of the Notts County Cricket Club, A. W. Carr, writing in tho Yorkshire "Observer," says he will be surprised if Larwood is included in the Notts team against the Australians on August 11. He is anxious that Larwood should play, but until the whole question of his position has been settled it would be unwise to place him in a compromising situation, -The coming match, eays Carr, offers the Australians a fine opportunity of sinking their grievances and giving a sporting lead. ~"..-• As Larwood has sprained a tendon in his left heel he is not likely to bo able to bowl for his county against the Australians in any case.
