The blaze continues to rage to-day. Thirty-four persons have been burned, several of them being severely injured bv the flames.

The toll of deaths and damage as a result of the heat-wave in the MiddleWest States is mounting up. Fatalities have now increased to 1100.

Cowboy firing squads in Texas are shooting cattle at a rate of more than 1000 a day to end the animals' torture from thirst and starvation. More than 61,000 already have been killed, and it is feared that it may be necessary, owing to the drought to destroy -100,000 of the State's herd of 7,000,000 beef and dairy cattle. One-third of the nation's counties are receiving drought relief. DESTRUCTIVE FIRE. QUEENSLAND OUTBREAK. (Received 1.30 p.m.) BRISBANE, this day. Damage estimated at £22,000 was caused by a fire which destroyed Hancock Brothers' new sawmill, covering foiu - acres, at North Ipswich.
