CAUGHT TAKING COAL.
SUSTENANCE MAN'S OFFENCE The theft of 211b of coal, valued at 1/, was admitted by Frederick. Albert Keating, who appeared before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Police Court this morning. Inspector Edwards said that the stationmaster at Mount Eden railway station last night found Keating removing coal without authority. ' Con-s-derable pilfering of coal has been a'oincr on at the Mount Eden railway station recently, a whole ton being taken on the one night," added the inspector. "Of course, there is no suggestion that accused had anything to do with that." Mr Hall Skelton said nothing previously was known against Keating who was a married man, and at present on sustenance. He had no right to remove the coal, but he only had a small sack with him. The magistrats convicted and ordered Keating to come up for sentence if called upon within six months,
