■ JUNIOR BOARD AFFAIRS. EXTENSION OF CHAMPIONSHIPS. The recent action of the Auckland Rugby League Board of Control in upholding ail appeal by the Otahuhu Rovers Club against a decision made after the first match in the second round to extend the championship to three rounds, occupied the junior management committee last evening, when Mr. D. Wilkic presided. Deputations in connection with the matter were received from the Papakura, Marist, Northeote and City Clubs, supported by letters from second grade and various sixth and seventh grade clubs — most of the clubs affected by the threatened limitation of the championship competition. The Mangere Club said it took some weeks for a team to Settle down. Experience proved that three rounds of play produced the best results. Point Chevalier also protested against the decision of the senior board to shorten the championship, after a sufficiently early arrangement by the junior board. The Devonport Club said it was imperative in the interests of junior players that the respective grade championships should be extended as long as possible. Similar letters from the Richmond, Mount Albert, Avondale and Glenora clubs were received in support oE the junior committee. The chairman, reviewing the matter as presented to the senior board by Mr. J. Clark, of Otahuhu Rovers, said he regretted not having pointed out to the board at the time that the competition, under the alteration, was practically completed. After frank comment on the situation ;by members, it was decided to refer the question back to the Control Board. : The chairman ruled that, pending the Senior board's decision on the protest, next Saturday's matches in the second, ' sixth and seventh grades would be championship matches. If necessary, the junior board would refer the matter to the New Zealand Council. Two third intermediate players were suspended for a playing Saturday, one for , "chipping" a referee, and the other for striking an opponent. Transfers. —D. Starke, Otahuhu seconds, , to Point Chevalier; Poutai Rewha, Filerslie seconds, to Mangere; W. Rout, Rich- . niond third intermediate, to City.
