The president, Miss Long, presided. During the evening Mr. F. H. Leonard judged the prepared speeches for the Enterprise Cup, which was won by Miss Ray Targett. Supper brought a very pleasant evening to a close. A morning tea to farewell Mrs. and Miss Heath Preest was given at the Lyceum Club yesterday by the ladies of Myers Kindergarten. On her arrival, Mrs. Heath Preest was presented with a bouquet, of violets by the president,, Mrs. H. J. S. Sellers, "and Miss Josie Heath Preest received a bouquet of violets from the president of the girls' committee, Miss B. Abbott. Among the guests were: Mesdames H. J. S. Sellers. H. Buchanan, R. Coleman, U. Dransheld. H. R. Bloomneld, A. Abbott, J. H. Kinnear, H. T. Grubb, T. W. Brinsden, Misses F. Murray, A. Abbott, T. Darling, R. Coleman, S. Gilbertson, M. Dransficld, and P. Myers. * • « # On Saturday a delightful little party was given to Mrs. D. Bate, one of the oldest residents of Parnell, to celebrate her eighty-fourth birthday. Mrs. Bate, who, for the past Oo years has resided in Brighton Road, was the recipient of many telegrams and letters of congratulation from relations and friends. During the celebrations two beautifully iced cakes, made by her eldest granddaughter, Mrs. Tal Lcathart, and Mrs. Wright, were cut. Amongst those prosent were: Mrs. C. Olney, Mrs. J. Brunt, and Miss A. Bate (daughters), Mrs. Leathart, Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Saintbury, and Miss D. Wright. * * » ♦ The Mangere Last School Committee held a progressive card evening in the supper room of the Mangere East Hall last night, when there was an attendance of over forty bridge and SOU players. The room had been tastefully decorated with streamers and bowls of "olden wattle. The winners of the bridge prizes were Mrs. Gordon and Mr. J. M. Key,- while Mrs. Jackson and Mr. G. Luslett were the winners of the 500. Among those present were:—Mesdames F. G. Massey, M. D. Nash, A. K. Belcher, J. M. Key, Dobel, Burnc, A. E. Newson, Jackson, A. Henwood, F. Phesant, Ellison, A. Prangley, K. Chapman, Gordon, Johnston, Misses B. Tims and Carnaehan. • * • • Mr. and Mrs. W. Boag, of Point Chevalier, were host and hostess at an enjovablc dance held at the Hallyburton Johnstone Hall on Saturday evening in honour of the coming of age of their only daughter, Phyllis. Mrs. Boag received her guests in a frock of blue marocain relieved with fawn, and Miss Phyllis Boag, guest of the evening, wore lime green satin beaute. Amongst those present were: Mesdames G.
