SEIZURE OF OPIUM.
WELLINGTON POLICE RAID. POSSIBLE VALUE OF £700. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON", Saturday. Prepared smoking opium of a possible value in New Zealand of nearly £700 was seized by Customs officers and detectives when they raided a house in Kent Terrace this morning. As a result of the raid it is probable that at least two persons will appear in the Magistrate's Court on charges of having been found in unlawful possession of opium. Those involved are Europeans. The raiding party found 18 half-pound tins and 00 two-ounce tins of opium, all neatly parcelled up together with la quantity of "seconds," or slightly-used I opium.
