HILLS NEAR HUNTLY.
HEAVY MANTLE OF SNOW. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HUNTLY, this day. An unusual sight was the appearance in tho Matahuru district yesterday morning of a heavy mantle of snow covering the Mangapiko, Waipuna, and Matahuru hills. In some places the snow was from six inches to a foot deep Snow commenced to fall about three o'clock yesterday morning. There were still traces of it this morning. It is stated that it is 40 years since the district has experienced such a heavy fall of snow. On two or three other occasions there have been very slight falls.
