MARAMARUA HUNT.

FINAL MEET AT PAEBOA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) FAEROA, Sunday. The final meet of the Marnmarua Hunt Club's hunting week at Paeroa held yesterday was by far the most successful of the four held. A greater number of riders took part than at any of the previous meets, there being over GO present, including Mr. B. Myers, of Auckland, on Bamba. The hunt assembled at tlie farm of Mr. MeCracken. Almost immediately a liare was put up which took the hunters through McCrackcn's farm over the Quarry Company's land and back almost to the starting point, where a kill was made. Then, going over the road on to the property of Mr. B. E. Instead of making for tlie cover on the hills it continued along open country and took shelter in a swamp. When the huntsmen again caught up the hare again broke cover and returned to the road, along which it ran for half a mile. From there it returned to Mr. Veale's property, and a kill was made near the homestead. The numerous spectators present greatly appreciated the chase, which, being made in open country, was visible from start to finish.

After a iun of about four miles the two trophies were discovered and won by Mr. E. Burdus (Waitakaruru) and Mr. W. Marshall (Maramarua). The party then returned to the homestead of Mr. B. E. Veale, where afternoon tea was taken. Mr. J. D. Pagan heartily thanked all the settlers and residents of Paeroa who had made their week of hunting an unqualified success. He noted with pleasure the great improvement in the standards of riding and mounts. The fact that the membership from the Paeroa ward showed 100 per cent Increase augured well for the future of the club. He had hopes that in the future it would be possible for the club to stage hunt club races in Paeroa. Mr. B. Myei-s and Mrs. S. Symes, secrei.Jarj 1 of tlxy cluto, also spoke,
