WAIPA RACING CLUB.
STIPENDIARY REPORT
A meeting of the committee of the Waipa Racing Club was h\ld on Thursday, Mr. J. T. Young presiding. Tlie Under-Secretary of the Department of Internal Affairs forwarded a form for use in applying for a refund under section 20 of the Finance Act, 1931, in respect to the club's meeting on June 16. He pointed out that the-maximum on which a refund might be granted to a club in a racing year was .£20,000, and that the Waipa Club had already received a refund on £14,217 10/. The secretary' of the ' Racing Conference forwarded the following extract from an' otherwise • favourable report by the stipendiary steward: "The one mile and a quarter start- is just on the home turn, and in my. ■ opinion would be better if •it wa£\ shifted back about 100 yds. This matter I mentioned to the committee, members Tiave decided to go- into 'tlie matter." The balance-elieet regarding the recent 'race meeting showed a profit of slightly over £200, oil a total expenditure of £1545. . The secretary's action in writing to the Racing Conference secretary in applying, for permits to hold two totalisator days racing for the coming term was approved. , Mii 'E. ;Montgomery offered to donate another' trophy for the chief event at next race •, meeting. The Te,.'Awamutu Golf Club, which body holds a tenancy of the racecourse for golf asked permission to hold the King Country championships this season on the local link 9.
