WORK AT ELLERSLIE.

HORSES FOR TRENTHAM.

The weather was cold and showery fori training at Ellerslic this morning, an I the. going on the No. 3 grass, which' nas open For galloping, was very iiea»-y, and all against last times. All the local horses with engagements at Trentlum were out, among those v.iio impressed most being Lord Val, Horowheuua and Wes Pat. No. 3 Grass. Wee Tat was worked over a round, which she completed in 1.48 1-5. Kilmiiir assisted her over the last six furlongs, ai.d they were on terms at the finish, alter running the latter distance in 1.25 1-5. Wee Pat revelled in the heavy going and did her task attractively. Lord Val and Hovowhenua completed six furlongs in 1.19 2-j —the best of the morning over the distance. They both hit out freely in the soft gcing. and were on terms at the finish. My Money and Barograph ran home from the three-fnrlong post in 40 4-os, doing it nicely. Gay Broney was given a work-out (Over a round, and going easily throughout 'covered the distance in 1.59 1-5. Free Air and Wee Musk completed a similar distance in 1.4S 2-5. They ran the last six furlongs in 1.25, and the final half-mile in 575. Free Air, who was a shade in front at the finish, is in fine order for her engagements at Trentham. Thp two-year-old.; Kelly and Spearcourt were given useful tasks, averaging about 15s to the furlong. Karangapai sprinted half a mile, running the distance in 555. This horse has nevei looked better than he does at present. Zane Grey and Cargen were allotted about a mile and a half, running the distance in 2.53 2-5. They covered the first half-mile in 595, the last round in 1.54 and the final six furlongs in 1.28 2-5. Zane Grey beat his companion by a couple of lengths, though he had a big pull in the weights. After trotting once round on the sand, Sir Val completed five furlongs on this track in 1.12 2-5. He was not bustled at any stage and did his work nicely. Hawthorn and Jewelled β-irdle, after running their first three furlongs in 40 3-ss, got to the end of eix furlongs in 1.24 2-5. There was little between them at the finish, though Hawthorn impressed most. After beginning slowly King Musk traversed a round in 1.50 4-5. He was sent along faster over the Last six furlongs, which he covered in 1.23 3-5. Billy Boy and Neil worked over a mile and a half, which occupied 2.55. They ran the first half-mile in 56 4-ss, the last round in 1.58 4-5, and the final six furlongs in 1.29 3-5. Neil was doing the better of the pair at the finish. United ran home from the half-mile post in 54 2-ss, and Solomon got to the end of five furlongs in 1.10 1-5. The latter was decidedly lame after working. Imamint hit out well in a short sprint, but was not timed. Other horses to do useful tasks were-Patutahi, Horotiu, Kiltowyn, Fei-Mah, Express, Gold Pocket, On Parade, Master Rex, Chief Emerald, Ruling King, Captain Bruce, Psychologist, Gay Sol, Royal Appellant, Sporting Song, Giant's Opal and Ardmauning. The Jumpers. Free Air (Lawson) gave a good display over a couple of pony hurdles and Golden Wedding (Fergus) cleared the same fences •twice in a satisfactory manner. HORSES iOR WELLINGTON.

King Musk, Billy Boy, Wee Pat, Patutahi, Horowhenua, Wee Musk, Free Air and Lord Val are due to leave for Trentham on Monday to fulfil engagements at the Wellington meeting. W. Lawson will ride Free Air and E. McTavisli will be on Horowhenua. Lawson may also ride Wee Musk in his engagements. - J. Buchanan has decided to make the trip to Wellington with Neil and Hawthorn and will probably leave for Trentham about the middle of the week. P. Mcllroy will ride the former and R. Clarke will be on Hawthorn.
