DISTRICT VISITS. LODGE INSTALLATIONS. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES. The Youthful Enterprise Temple, 1.0. G.T., met on Thursday evening, Bro. A. Dickson, C.T., presiding over a good attendance. The business was quickly dealt with and three new members were initiated. The social programme was in the hands of the special committee, and Sisters G. Brown and J. Legg arranged a very pleasant hpur. The Epsom Lodge, No. 88, 1.0.0. F., met on Tuesday evening at.Royal Oak, the N.G., Bro. Whitmore, presiding over a very fair attendance. The routine business was soon transacted and Bro. M, J. Hooper, P.G.M., made an appeal for a forward movement and asked each one present to bring along three old members for a special bowling evening. At the close of the meeting, some very enjoyable games of bowls were played. The quarterly meeting of the Hope of Eden Tent, 1.0. R., was well attended, the Chief Ruler, Sister J. Goodsir, presiding. The balance-sheet showed the sickness experience to be above the average during the quarter. Nine new memhers had been received and two transferred to other tents. Arrangements were made for a series of interesting meetings during the winter session, the first meeting in July to bo a social and dance. Bro. R. H. Wilson, D.G., then installed the following officers for the current term: —Chief Ruler, Bro.D. M. A. Bodley; Deputy Ruler, Br6. J. McPherson; P.C.R., Sister J. Goodsir; secretary and treasurer, Bro. A. A. Bodjey; steward, Bro. A. Gerlach; levite, Sister L. Shortland; guard, Bro. E. Barnett; assistant secretary, Bro. A. C. Caddy; pianist, Sister Francis; auditors, Bros. L. Francis and R. D. Bodley;-juvenile superintendents, Bro. and Sister Francis. The Star of Otahuhu Lodge, 1.0.0. F., met on Wednesday evening, Bro. Hardie, N.G., being the presiding officer. The business was quickly dealt with and the hall cleared for dancing. This being tho opening of the winter social programme, a good attendance was recorded and a most enjoyable time spent. Vocal items were given by Bro. J. Hard, Messrs. H. Black, C. and D. Willianis, and Evans. Mrs. MeCrory's orchestra supplied the dance music. • Loyal Tβ Aroha Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., met on Wednesday evening in the Masonic Hall, the Noble Grand, Bro. A. Hawkins, presiding. Four new members were initiated into the order, being received with full honours. The election of officers resulted as follows: N.G., Bro. R, Bowie; V.G., Bro. J. Rushbrook; E.S., Bro. Douglas. The Noble Grand appointed Bro. K. Goodison as his warden. The district officers of the Independent Order of Rechabites have been busy with tent visitations of late. The Hope of Devonport Tent was the first to be honoured, Bro. G. S. Francis, D.C.R., and Bro. D. Bodley, district secretary, being the official deputation. Two new members received initiation, and there are good prospects for further increase. The sickness experienced for the quarter was reported to be heavier- than usual. The same two officers visited the Hop« of Hamilton Tent on May 28, the intention being to hold a united meeting of members of Waikato tents, similar to previous occasions when the Morrinsville, Cambridge, and Huntly Tents joined with Hamilton in a general rally. A good meeting was held, and two more candidates initiated. Great interest was shpwn, especially in regard to the effort to increase the membership, as a special centenary effort, tho order having been instituted on August 25, 1835..

Loyal Franklin Lodge, Manchester Unity, 1.0.0. F., met in the Kingsford Hall, Otahuhu, on Thursday laet. Being quarter night, the attendance was above the average and visitors were welcomed from Loyal Manurewa, Lynndale, Morrinsville and Hamilton Lodges. Three new members received initiation and were duly accorded the honours of the order. The election of officers resulted in Bro. Fairweather being chosen as N.G., Bro. Coe V.G., and Bro. Eae elec. eec. At the conclusion of the business a very enjoyable social evening was tendered by the Noble Grand and I.P.N.G. Dance music was provided by Miss Pilkington and Sister Davis (Mqrrinsville). On Saturday evening another very pleasant social and dance was given by the lodge. Bros. D. Rae and W. Beet acted as masters of ceremonies. The Tokomaru Bay Lodge, 1.0.0. F., had a very fair attendance at their meeting last week, when Bro. H. Jury, N.G., presided. It was decided to contest the ritual competition against Tolaga Lodge next meeting night, a good time being expected. The Grand Lodge quarterly report was received and fully discussed. The evening closed with a social hour. The quarterly meeting of Court Pride of Oneliunga, No. 5261, A.0.T , ., A.D., was held in the Friendly Societies? Hall, Grey Street, Onehunga, the C.R., Bro. W. Clarke, presiding over a good attendance of the members. The election of officers for the next half-year resulted 'as followe:— C.R., Bro. H. Clarke; S.C.R., Bro. C. Ansell; S.W., ■Bro. C. Agnew; J.W., Bro. S. Ansell; 5.8., Bro. V. Price; J. 8., Bro S. King; secretary, Bro. R. Laking; treasurer, Bro. S. Jamieson; organist, Bro. C. Leonard. The newly-elected officere were installed by the newly-elected C.R., Bros. S. King and H. Mitchell acting a? presenting officers. Bro. W. Worrall, 1.P.C.R., was presented wit'n his C.R. honours. At the close of the meeting supper was served and a very pleasant evening was spent.

The installation ceremony conducted at Court Victoria, No. 6609, A.0.F., last week was most interesting, and was carried out before a good muster of Foresters, including the district executive and officers and members from Courts Maid Marian, Edith Caveil and Nil Desperandum. C.R. Bro. Thornton presided. D.C.R. Bro. Jamieson and D.S.C.R. Bro. Seaman actiDg as presenting officers, introduced Bro., A. Hoverd, C.R. elect, who was duly installed and occupied the chair. Bro. C. Newby was accorded the honour of S.C.R., the S.W. and J.W. being Bro. Grirashaw and] Sister Beaudeaux, and the S.B. and J. 8.: Sister Hill) sen., and:,:'Bro. W. Harp.i Presentations were also made to P.C.R. Bro. Austin of his P.C.R.'s collar and certificate, and a leather bajr to P.C.R. Bro. Veart, who had completed hie third term as C.R. A social gathering fo'li lowed, which brought to. a cicee a nioet f enjoyable evening.

Loyal Tuakau Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., had a large gathering to witness their installation of officers, tho ceremony being performed by P.D.G.M. Bro. W. Gubb, assisted by Past Grands Bros. G. Prince and T. Malcolmson. The following officers were duly placed in their respective positions:—N.G., Bro. Hankin; 1.P.N.G., Bro. O. Lindberg; V.G., Sister E. Woolley; elec. sec, Bro. H. Geraghty; warden, Bro. T. Young; guardian, Bro. B. Gubb; conductors, Bro. C. Rogers and Sister G. Woolley; R.S.N.G., Bro. R. Wilcox; L.S.N.G., Bro. J. McNeill; R.S.V.G., Bro. L. Batkin, L.S.V.G., Sister,B. Long.

Loyal Howick Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., held the election of officers for the new term at the meeting on Monday last, with the result that Sister E. G. White was chosen as Noble Grand and Sister E. Innes as Vice Grand. Bro. H. D. Andrews is I.P.N.G. and Bro. W. Murray E.S. This is the first occasion in the history of the lodge when the chief two chairs have both been occupied by sisters. A very enjoyable social evening was then provided by the new officers, games and dancing occupying the time. The Monte 'Carlo waltz was won by Miss Ragg and Bro. C. Barber.

The Light of Manukau Lodge, U.A.0.D., have lost an old and valued member through the sudden passing away of Bro. Sam Whiting. The respect in which he was held was evidenced by the large attendance of hie fellow members at the funeral service, and also at the memorial service on Sunday evening in the Congregational Church. Thie service was taken by Pastor Thornely, who spoke very feelingly of the late brother's many estimable qualities. Over 50 of the members of the lodge attended in regalia, and great sympathy is expressed with the widow and family of this well-esteemed brother.

On the same evening (Mav 28) Bro. H. Campling, D.S.J.T., visited the Sunbeam. Juvenile Tent at Huntly, where about 50 boys and girls and several adult members greeted him. One new member was initiated here, after which the officers were elected for the new term. The D.S.J.T. then installed the officers and presented a framed certificate to P.C.R. Bro. McGaughran: One of the juveniles wrote a most interesting essay on the working of the order, and this was read to the meeting, causing much favourable comment.

The Enterprise Lodge, 1.0. G.T., met on. Thursday evening, Sister E. Cant, C.T., presiding over a fair attendance of members. A welcome was extended to Bio. E. Hodgkinson, P.G.S.E.W., who will shortly be leaving Auckland. The routine business was speedily dealt with, and arrangements made for the forthcoming social gathering and also the anniversary. The harmony portion of the evening was occupied with book and song representations, followed by supper.
