FATAL SCALDS.
INQUEST ADJOURNED. WOMAN'S FALL INTO BATH. IH3ATH IN HOSPITAL. Admitted to the Auckland Hospital on Monday afternoon suffering from scalds, Mrs. Katherine Reid, aged 32, of 75, Vermont Street, Fonsonby, died yesterday afternoon. While filling ,a bath with boiling water from an adjacent copper at her home, Mrs. Eeid slipped and fell into the batb, in which there were several inches of water. Her husband went to her assistance and she was taken to the Auckland Hospital by St. John Ambulance. An inquest will be opened this afternoon. An inquiry into the circumstances was opened by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., this afternoon. The husband said his wife, in preparing td have a bath, was carrying buckets of boiling water from a copper to the bathroom. He heard a scream, and on going into the room found his wife had fallen into the bath. She had all her clothes on and was in great pain from the scalding by the boiling water. The inquest was then adjourned sine die.
