HURRICANE'S WAKE.

Floods and Landslides in Central America.

VILLAGES OVERWHELMED

NEW YORK, Juno 12.

As the result of a hurricane which swept Central America last week accompanied by floods and landslides, it is estimated that more than 2500 lives were lost. Belated reports from Salvador and Honduras state that entire villages were overwhelmed by landslides from the volcanic mountains of Salvador. The hurricane reached its highest intensity on Thursday when it dislocated the ordinary means of communication in Salvador and damaged the international railway of South America to such an extent that three months will bo required for repairs. A heavy rainstorm accompanied the hurricane and washed down the sides of the mountains, causing lakes and rivers to rise above their banks and imperilling those who managed to escape the landslides.
