YACHTING ASSOCIATION.
MITIXET BOAT RESTRICTIONS. X CLASS sail increased. At a meetinc: of the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association last evening, the final draft of the rules and restrictions for tho 20, 22, 21 and 20ft centreboard classes, better known as the "mullet boats," were adopted, subject to a tinal revision by tho lion, secretary, Sir. A. J. Collings. The chairman, Mr. C. H. T. Palmer, reported that the sub-committee had interviewed the Harbour Board on the question of fixing silencers on all motor boats, and waa assured that the by-law was only intended for outboard motor boats. The bv-law restricting the speeding through protected areas was approved. The committee was notified that the 400 yds limit of approach to a beach of a fast motor boat was measured from high water mark. The by-laws, it was pointed out, were only framed to meet extreme cases. Tho report of tho sub-committee on the 14ft restricted class was adopted, a motion by the TamaiLi Tiicht Club's delegates that the sail area be kept the same as the late Jellicoo one-design class, 150 square feet, to avoid the expense ot new sails, mast, spars and rigging, was defeated, only tho Akarana and Tani.-iki clubs supporting it The class can now increase the sail area to 175 square feet, tho Bermudau rifl being optional. It was decided to bring tho racing and other rules up to date, and Messrs. A. A. Coates, T. McKnigbt and CollingS were asked to report on the question.
