FAT STOCK MARKET. FIRMING OF VALUES. A finning of values for beef was a ftature of the fat stock sales at Westfield to-day, when there was au average yarding. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports:—At our weekly Westfield fat stock market held to-day we penned beef in fully average numbers. The demand was again keen and values firmed on late quotations by about 1/ per 1001b. Extra choice ox sold to 22/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 18/ to 21/; secondary and plain, 14/ to 17/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 18/ to 21/; secondary, 13/ to 17/. Heavy prime steers ranged in price from £7 15/ to £8 15/; lighter, £6 10/ .to £7 12/6; light, £5 to £6 7/6; small and unfinished, £3 to £4 15/;. extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £5 5/ to £5 17/6; heavy, £4 2/6 to £5; lighter, £3 7/6 to £4; light, £2 10/ to £3 15/; others, £1 10/ to £2 7/6.
Alfred Buckland and Sons report:—At our weekly Westfield fat stock market held to-day we yarded beef to the number of 224 head, as against 157 head last Wednesday, comprising 116 steers and 108 cows and heifers. There was again keen demand and generally values were firmer by 1/ per 1001b. Extra choice ox sold to 22/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 19/ to 21/; secondary and plain, 17/ to 18/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 17/ to 20/; ordinary, 10/ to 16/. Extra heavy prime steers sold at £10; heavy. £7 15/ to £8 17/6; lighter, £G 10/ to £7 12/6; light, £5 10/ to £6 7/0; small and unfinished, £3 15/ to £5 7/6; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £5 10/ to £6 5/; heavy, £4 10/ to £5 7/6; lichter. £3 10/ to £4 7/6; others, £1 15/' to £3 7/6.
Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report:— At our weekly Westfield fat stock market to-day we yarded 166 head of beef (against 152 head last week), comprising 26 steers and 140 cows and heifers. The quality was well up to standard, and a better demand resulted in values, which improved 1/ per 1001b. We yarded no extra heavy steers. Extra choice ox eold to 22/ per 1001b: choice and prime, 18/ to 21/; secondary and plain, 15/ to 17/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 17/ to 20/; secondary, 12/ to 16/. Heavy prime steers ranged in price from £8 to £8 7/6; lighter, £6 17/6 to £7 17/6; light. £5 15/ to £6 15/; small and unfinished, £4 to £5 12/6: extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £6 to £7 2/6; heavy, £4 10/ to £5 17/6; lighter, £3 to £4 7/6; others, £1 10/ to £2 17/6.
