There was a large attendance at the executive meeting of the New Zealand Society for the Protection of Women and Children, held yesterday afternoon at the society's rooms. The Rev. Father Colgan was unanimously elected chairman of the board for the ensuing year. A welcome was extended to the newly-elected members of the executive, Mrs. W. W. Moore, Dr. dimming and Mr. W. A. Bishop. The reports gave the usual list of distressful cases, some of a very serious nature. Many are the direct result of the presenteconomic conditions. A satisfactory reply was received from the Minister of Justice, with regard to the sentences passed on sexual offenders against children and young girls. The Minister expressed his appreciation of the Concern of the society in this matter.
