ENCOURAGING THEFT.
I feel pained when I read so frequently about prowling thieves getting into our homes and taking sums of money from dressing tables, coat and trouscr pockets, etc. We are told they secured £S, £12 or £20, as the cage may be, and that the thief missed other sums. Such lack of care is only giving encouragement to other law-breakers. It is hard to believe that" people, leave large sums of money about when banks are so numerous. They don't even take thc t trouble to hide their money and valuables. ' ' SCOTSMAN.
