LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.
EPSOM. The Epsom branch met on Friday, and Mrs. W. R. Tuck was in the chair. Mrs. Randall, in giving the thought for the month, read a little poem, "A Thought of Cheer," by Bessie W. Rumbsy. Mrs.' Poole sang several • lullabies and gave an elocutionary item. Mrs. Ncal was the speaker for the afternoon. Her subject, "Simple Home Cures," was very interesting. ARAPUNI. A meeting of the Arapuni branch was held recently. There was a good attendance, and five new members joined. The vicar of Te Awamutu, the Rev. T. R. Wareing, gave an address on the present conditions of life in Russia in regard to women and child welfare, painting a vivid word picture showing that, with the blotting out of religion, home life had ceased to exist, and appealing to the iliothers of New Zealand to wake up to their responsibility and to use their influence to prevent such a state of things happening here. During the afternoon two vocal items given by Mrs..- Ackland were much enjoyed. .Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses.
