SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
One of the season's "debs.," Miss Vora Kissin, was hostess on Saturday night, when she entertained her friends with a bright party. Miss Kissin received her guests in a flamo taffeta frock, relieved with silver lame. Among those present were:—Misses Joyce Paykel, F. Fisher, M. Fisher, Clarice Green, Lou Williamson, Joan. Airey, Nancy Warren, Jean Lukekina and Barbara Mardelle.
The residents of Bucklands Beach took a surprise party to the residence of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Brooke on Saturday evening in honour of their weddjng anniversary. Bridge, games and competitions passed an enjoyable evening. Songs were given by Mesdames Kluver, Croucher and Mason, Miss Baster and Mr. Brooke. Mies Baster, in presenting Mrs. Brooke with a bouquet and Mr. Brooke with a buttonhole, wished them long years of happiness. Tho»e present included:— Mesdames Brooke, Baster, Smith, Mason, McDonald, Monrow, Croucher, Kluver, Hancock, Miss Baster and Messrs. Brooke, Baster, Hancock, McDonald, Hurle and Tongman.
