DEVONPORT ACCIDENT.

POLICE INVESTIGATING. A pedestrian, Mr. George Bending, of 10, Alison Avenue, was struck by a motor car when crossing Victoria Road, Dcvonport, on Thursday evening, and, it is alleged, the vehiclo drove on and left the injured man on the road. The accident happened nearly opposite the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Bending had taken but a few steps off the footpath when the vehicle, travelling in the direction of Takapuna, knocked him over. He lay on the road for a few minutes, when other pedestrians came to his assistance and took him to Dr. C. F. Bennett, who lives near by. Mr. Bending suffered abrasions to the head and face, but was able to go home after receiving attention.

The police are inquiring for the motorist.
