TEACHERS ENTERTAIN.
On Monday afternoon about 80 members of the Auckland Women Teacliers Association assembled in the institute clubroom, Wellesley Street, to meet Dr. and Mrs. Comrie, distinguished visitors from Edinburgh, who have been spending a holiday in New Zealand. The guests were received by the president, Mrs. M. C. Chisholm, and the vice-president, Miss Sylvia Andrews, who presented Mrs. Comrie with a posy of autumn flowers. After afternoon tea an address was delivered by Dr. Comrie, who is a pastpresident of the Scottish Educational Institute and the teachers' representative on the Scottish Board of Education. After conveying a greeting from Scottish teachers, he dealt with many subject, of special interest to New Zealand teachers, such as the school entrance age of five years in Scotland, teacher tramin" and academic status, superannuation, ami professional associations of teacheis. Other guests of the association were 'the following overseas' exchange teachers: Miss Caw (London), Miss Steele (Durban), Miss Donaldson (Queensland), Miss Drury (West Riding, England), Miss Christianson (New South Wales), and several New Zealand teachers who have had exchange work in other parts of the empire. At the conclusion of the address guests and members had the opportunity for interchange of personal greetings with the bcottis.b visitors. _____'
