LAUNCH AGROUND.
VAIN EFFORTS TO REFLOAT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Blown up on the sand on the New Brighton side of the estuary by 3 gale on Saturday, May 5, the big launch Romance is still aground and very little progress has been made in getting it back to the sea. For the past three weeks vigorous digging operations have been carried on at intervals and every Sunday, but every time an endeavour has been made to clear a channel to the water's edge the tide has invariably come in before sufficient headway has been made and has washed the excavated sand snugly round the boat once more.
