FAT STOCK MARKET. WESTFIELD WEEKLY SALE. Although there was no actual improvement in prices at the Westfield fat stock market to-day, there was a decidedly better tone, all round. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At our weekly Westfield fat stock market to-day we penned beef in more than average numbers. There was a ready demand, the market showing a decidedly better tone, with values very firm at late rates. The quality of the ox beef was an improvement on last week. There was a keen demand, and ruling values were easily sustained. Extra choice ox sold to 21/ per 1001b; choice and prime, IS/ to 20/; secondary and plain, 15/ to 17/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 15/ to 18/; secondary, 10/ to 14/. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report:—At our weekly fat stock market held to-day we yarded 238 head of beef, comprising 38 steers, 200 cows and heifers, against 320 last week. The quality was well up to standard, and the offering sold under a steady demand at values on a par with last week's rates. We offered no extra heavy bullocks.
