CLEM DAWE'S CO.
SEASON OPENS TO-DAY. This evening at His Majesty's Theatre Mr. Clem Daive and his new revue company will appear in a production entitled "Strike Up the Band," in which they achieved some of their best triumphs in Australia. It is four years since Mr. Dawe last appeared in Auckland. In the latest revue Mr. Dawe, it is said, leads the other comedians into all sorts of amusing situations. The theory that Clem Dawe must be costumed in his absurdly large trousers and his "navvy" boots before he can be funny is, it ie said, disproved in "Strike Up the Band." Mr. Dawe has surrounded himself by a particularly strong combination of artists, many of whom will be making their debut in New Zealand. There is Dorothy White, a talented comedienne; Gregory Ivanoff. famous Russian violinist; while Muriel O'Malley, who, it is claimed, possesses a remarkably rich contralto voice, will be heard in some delightful song scenas, in which she is coupled with Miss Ann Luciano, a charming soprano. Halliday and Watson created simething of a furore when they presented their adagio dance in Sydney, and Edna Moncriefi and Edna Luscombe are said to be exceptionally fine toe and tap dancers. Cliff O'Keefe is wellknown an a revue artist, and Joe Shrinor, a talented New York assists both comedians and singers. Les White will also make his reappearance. A full operatic orchestra is under the baton of Mr. Tom King. The production is under the personal direction of Mr. Ery: Edseley. All the latest London and New York novelties, sketches, ballets and song successes will be presented in "Strike Up the Band," and the Australian ballet is a feature of the production.
