MINISTER FAREWELLED.

REV. EVAN R. HARRIES.

A farewell to the Rev. Evan. R. Harries by the congregation of St. James' Presbyterian Church was given at St. James Hall on Wednesday, when there was a large attendance. Tributes were paid by Mr. A. C. Steele, on behalf of the office bearers; by Mr. J. MeCoskrie and Mr. Clanachan, on behalf of the congregation, and by Sister Margaret, on behalf of the I*/W.M.TJ. and the Ladies' Association. The Moderator (Rev. J. A. Thompson) and the clerk of Presbytery (Rev. Mr. Elliff) conveyed the Presbytery's regrets. Canon Grant Cowen expressed his appreciation of the kindness he had received from Mr. Harries during his ten years' ministry. Presentations were made to Mr. and Mrs. Harries and their daughters by Mr. A. J. Entrican and Sister Margaret. Mr. Harries' said that after visiting Scotland ho would probably return to New Zealand. Next Sunday Mr. Harries will preach his farewell sermons. _ It will be the tenth anniversary of his induction and t.ho 69th anniversary of the opening of the church.
