TE AROHA TOURNAMENT. UNUSUAL POSITION IN FINAL. The second annual championship and handicap tournament of the Te Aroha Croquet Club, which concluded on Thursday, was most successful, and the games very keenly contested. The club was fortunate in having fine weather for the 11 days, and over 180 games were played. The finals of the championship singles between Mrs. A. Margison and Mrs. S. Margison proved a most exciting event, Mrs. S, Margison winning the first game, Mrs. A. Margison the second, while the third proved most unusual, each player having a clip on the peg, one each on the last hoop and both the other balls were on each side of the hoop. The players then left the lawn and the game declared a draw.
It was then decidcd to play a fourth game, wliich resulted in a win for Mrs. S. Margison. A similar position had been known to occur at a Dominion tournament in Christcliurch between two leading players. List of winners:—
