TRADING COUPONS.

BREACH OF ACT HELD. SOAP COMPANY PROSECUTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. In a reserved judgment delivered by Mr. E«, Page, S.M., to-day, it was held that an offer to supply linen glass cloths through a. retail soft goods company by Lever Bros. (N.Z.), Ltd., in return for Sunlight soap cartons, was a breach of the Trading Coupons Act, and a fine of 10/ was imposed. Mr. Page said that in his opinion defendants offered to their customers two alternatives—either the sum of ninepence in cash for' the redemption of cartons, or a supply of glass cloth, said to be worth 1/0. It seemed that defendants had agreed to redeem their trading coupons otherwise than for money, and that in the present case they had in fact redeemed coupons not for cash but by causing to be sent to the purchaser a glass cloth. This action came within the statute.

Security for appeal was fixed
