LATE MR. BOUCHER.
IMPRESSIVE FUNERAL .. HUNDREDS OF TRIBUTES The funeral which took place yesterday afternoon of the late Mr. E. R. Boucher, victim of the Wellington aeroplane crash on Saturday, was largely attended by hundreds of Auckland citizens, both in private and public capacities, and the cortege consisted of some 200 cars. Officials, pilots, pupils and associate members of the Auckland Aero Cl-üb, of which Mr. Boucher was president, attended in largo numbers, and wreaths and messages of condolence were sent to Mrs. Boucher and family by flying organisations and other sympathisers throughout the DominionPrincipals and employees of Radio, Ltd., Mr. Boucher's firm, representatives of local authorities, business houses and many clubs and societies paid their last respects at the funeral. All flying at Mangere aerodrome was suspended for the day as a mark of respect. - * The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady sent a telegraphic message of sympathy to Mrs. Boucher. The Minister of Industry and Commerce, the Hon. R. Masters, also sent his condolcnces.
The chief mourners were Mr. W. A. Boucher, brother, and Mr. C. H. White and Mr. R. G. White, brothers-in-law. The pall-bearers were six of the deceased's oldest friends, Mr. F. Alpe,- Mr. F. O'Gorman, Mr. H. Henins, Mr.D. Roberts, Mr. H. Coo and Mr. W. A. Bush.
Before the funeral left the residence in Gilsit Avenue, Epsom, -a service was held for members of the family by the Rev. C. 0. Scrimgeour. former captain Qf the Auckland Aero Club and minister of the "Friendly Road" organisation. Mr. Scrimgeour also performed the last .rites at the graveside at Waikaraka Cemetery.
.In a brief address, Mr. Scrimgeour said: "Mr. Boucher communicated something of his energy and courage to all who knew him. Many have come this day to .pay a tribute of silent respect to one they loved, perhaps also to receive inspiration from the memory of his character and life. It must surely be gratifying to him to know that his friend, and companion has been spared, for his first thought in any extremity would always have been for the man in tlje passensrer seat in front of him." At the conclusion of the service, Mr. Scrimgeour quoted the lines from Laurence Binyon's poem "For the Fallen."
