INWARD CARGOES.

AUCKLAND FIRST PORT. COMPLAINTS IN SOUTH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Complaint was made at the meeting of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce yesterday that overseas vessels laden with goods for New Zealand, from West Coast ports of Britain, always touched at Auckland first, with the result that consignees in Wellington and at South Island ports had to wait at least a week before they were able to receive their

goods. A communication had bean sent to the Hon. Alexander Shaw, chairman of the P. and O. Line, on the subject, but he had intimated to the chamber that he had handed the letter to the New Zealand Shipping Company. After some discussion the chamber set up a committee to go into the matter with the shipping companies. Another remit was that the present Dairy Produce Board be abolished in favour of a board on which the members would serve in a purely honorary capacity. The Pukekohe chamber also proposes that the Government be urged to test the Eastern market for disposing of New Zealand dairy produce by sending a trial shipment.
