STRIKING OF RATES: .INQUIRY ASKED FOR. ......... Holding that to bring them into lire with ther rest of the ratepayers iff - the rate for everybody, would be a' breach of the agreement by which their land had been acquired, a letter was received from ratepayers of Roscdale Avcriiie by' the' Mount Eden Borough Council last evening. ' . [ ' Tie letter' stated that those concerned had been advised that it was, the intention of the council, when' striking the rates for next year, to all that part of the'borough in r .tlie vicinity of. Landscape Road which had hitherto been'rated separately into line with the rest- of the borough. They contended that when they purchased their properties~they were told it could only be rated on Joans borrowed after the council acquired' this .area from -Mount-Roskill, andf were shown rate demands to prove it. They asked that before charging the -full rafe the fullest "inquiry should be made.
It was recommended' that a repi'y be drafttxl and submitted to the council, £
