WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.

OKAIHAU. The Okaihau Women's Institute held its third annual meeting recently. Election of officers resulted in Miss Anderson being re-elected; Mrs. Wiley and Miss Maekereth, joint secretaries; Miss R. Siglcy, treasurer; vice-presidents, Mesdames Stabler and White. A proposal to hold institute meetings altern-. ately in Wailiou Valley was deferred. Points prizes for 1933 were awarded to Mrs. A. Faithful first, Mrs. W. Harris second, and Mrs. A. Graham and Miss Anderson third (equal). The hostesses were Mesdames Wiley, Skellv,'' and Misses Anderson' and Maekereth. Group Meeting. A well attended group meeting was held in the Commerce Hall, Okaihau. Mrs. Maxwell, group president, was in the chair. Miss Lewis, lion, organiser, from Auckland, was also present and was the recipient of a bouquet of dahlias. The following institutes were represented:—Okaihau, Moercwa, Ota-kura-Horeke, Happy Valley, Tutukehua and Taliekc. Miss Lewis and Mrs. Maxwell gave addresses. Remits were dealt with and a schedule drawn up for the spring meeting. It was decided to award a trophy for hand arts and crafts each spring meeting, the trophy to be held by winning institute for one year.
