BIRKDALE ACTIVITIES.

Outstanding community work was the feature of the reports presented yesterday afternoon at the annual.meeting of the Birkdaic Women's Institute. This body was mainly instrumental in restoring the lapsed animal \show formerly organised by the local Fruitgrowers' Association, and which has since been successfully continued for the past four years. Greetings were received from Gore from the retiring president, Miss Jean Wood, in whose absence the chair was occupied by the vice-president. Mrs. A. Bartlctt. The show subcommittee was congratulated on the great success of the annual district exhibition. The election of officers resulted: President, Mrs. Walter Williams; vice-presidents, Mesdames J. A. J. Schorman; representatives on Birkdaic show committee, Mesdames Walter Williams, R. Usher (convener), E. l r . Kay, C. Shorman; J. A. Bishop, and Miss Ethel McGregor; entertainment committee, Mesdames J. A. Bishop (convener), C. Schorman, J. Clark, A. S. Graham, M. T. S. Dickson, L. Diehl. W. Schorman, Misses Mary Bishop, Ethcp McGregor, Mary Hcw.s'on, and Nancy McGregor. Mrs. J. Bishop was appointed convener of the sewing committee.
