MINISTER FAREWELLED.

A farewell social was tendered tho Rev. H. W. Payne, who has completed a three years' ministry in the Auckland central circuit, by the Roskill Methodist Church on Monday evening. The chair was occupied by the circuit steward, Mr. L. E. Rhodes. Addresses were given by the Rev. E. D. Patchctt, chairman of the district, the Revs. Vercoe, Fursden and Tineley.

Mr. R. B. Johnston, secretary of the church, in eulogising Mr. Payne's ministry, spoke particularly of his work among the young people of the district.

On behalf of the congregation and Bible classes, Mr. F. North made the presentation of a handsome silver tea service. In replying Mr. Payne expressed his great appreciation of the loyalty and co-operation accorded him during his ministry.

During the evening many enjoyable items were rendered by the choir and soloists. Supper was served by the iladics .of. the church.
