FRANKLIN CONFERENCE. The next half-yearly conference of chambers of commerce in the Franklin district will bo held at Papatoetoe about the middle of April. The executive of the Pukekolie chamber .decided on Monday to forward a remit, that the Government be urged to investigate the present charges for telephone?, post office boxes, and radio licenses, with a view to a substantial reduction. It was also agreed to suggest that the charge for telegrams be reduced to 6d for the first ten words. !• A further remit from Pukekolie is:— "That the Minister of Internal Affairs be urged to institute .a more rigid censorship of films."
