During the Kensington races yesterday a deluge flooded the paddock as the seventh race was starting. The rain washed the bookmakers out. The race was run in a blinding downpour and the horses were invisible. The last three events on the programme were abandoned. As the result of heavy rain in Brisbane Breakfast Creek overflowed and the Swan Hill and Bowen Bridge areas were flooded. Police in boats assisted to remove residents to safety. Tram traffic in these suburbs was suspended. Following heavy rain two men tried to cross Martin's Creek, a tributary of Daintree River. Alee Nyall reached tlio other side, but liis companion, Herman Nofv, is missing. Nyall said Nofy was cither drowned or taken by crocodiles. He heard no cry for help.
