Anyone travelling through N.Z. at present and seeing the large number or pine plantations now being milled cannot Tail to appreciate the potential value or the large pine Torests established by N.Z. Perpetual Forests. Ltd. Sawmlllers are finding that I! costs less, and Is much more profitable to mill plantations instead or natural I'orests. which are now mostly inaccessible. The Importation or roreign boxmg umber has dropped considerably, and the milling or Inslgnls plantations has been responsible ror tills Very satisfactory returns are being received for trees planted without any ihougbt or profit.— (Ad.)
