Stars are invisible to the naked eye in the daytime because of the immensely superior strength of the light from the sun, which blots out the fainter light from the stars. "Curtain lectures" was the term given to admonition or fault-finding between husband and wife in the privacy afforded' by beds hung with old-fashioned bed curtains.
