MATAMATA GOSSIP.
GIGANTIC CHANGES STABLES. CANDIDATES FOR TE AROHA. Gigantic is now under the care of R. Martin, who has Last Lap and Grand City. This horse was schooled _ over the pony hurdles on Tuesday and jumped well for a beginner. Alloy and British Columbia have been at Matamata since Saturday. Both have been on the track doing easy work, and will be taken to Te Aroha to-day. I Ornamental, who has been at Matamata 1 since the local meeting in charge of A. D. Adams, will also be taken to Te Aroha to-day. R. J. Mateer has an addition to his team in Racing Lady, by Raceful—Lady Guy (a sister to Welcome Boy). This three-year filly has been worked by her owner at Tauranga, and it should not take Mateer long to get her into racing form. _ She looks every inch her name, and lias a pleasing manner on the track. Although Poi Dance is unable to start i on the first day at Te Aroha, she is to be ' taken there for the second day. Poi Dance has not raced since New Year's 1 Day, but is going well and might run : prominently. The oth--r local horses to compete at Te ' Aroha are expected to be railed to-day. ' These comprise Master Norval, Last Lap, Chief Lap, Emancipation, Huskie, Lia Fail ' and Brown Abbey. All are well. First Dance pleased his owner, R. J. • Mateer, by winning at Rotorua, but it is not intended to race her again this season, j She will be got ready for early spring , events. Welcome Boy has been sent to his owner ' at Tauranga, and is being worked on the J beach in the meantime.
