SEPARATE FARES.
TAXI I? RIVERS FINED. Three prosecutions of taxi-drivers for carrying passengers for separate fares without having a certificate of business or a permit, were heard before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. The Auckland Transport Board, as the metropolitan licensing authority, brought the prosecutions under tho Transport Licensing Act, 1931. The offences were committed over the period of the races at Christmas and X'ew Year by T. .T. Nash, W. J. Buckley, and 11. W. Turner. The drivers were fined £1 each and costs.
