; FARMERS' APPRECIATION. Appreciation of the work bcinft done by the Auckland Boys' Employment - Committee is implied by the satisfactory refund of fare money advanced by v.:-. the committee to boys going to work on farms. Sir Joseph Smith, who preover the meeting of the executive "'"'"-VQstei'day afternoon, pointed out that .sincc the committee was inaugurated £287 had been advanced for fares, and £205 had been refunded by farmers who had piven jobs to the lads. Apart from -•-•the financial aspect, this showed that of the boys were staying on the as the refunds were made after \he first three months. The litter explained what was being done «t present, and the other replies could -give no assurance of ability to assist lads in that direction, apart from recruit,ing for the navy. Since the last meeting 15 lads had been placcd in country positions and 23 in town positions.
