Mr. Leo Duffy, of Sydney, is at th« Central Hotel. Sir George Elliot left for Wellington by the Limited last niglit. Mr. R. A. Laidlaw returned from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr; L. E. Craven, third officer of tha Port Hunter, is in hospital in New Plymouth. Mr. W. R. Wright, inspecting engineer of the Colonial Sugar Refining Co., leaves for Sydney by the Monowai to-day. Mr. C. P. Lister, director of R. A. Lister and Co., Ltd., England, leaves for Sydney with Mrs. Lister by the Monowai to-day. Mr. K. E. Bullen, lecturer in mathematics at Auckland University College, ! left by train yesterday to visit the seismological observatory at Wellington. Professor A. P. W. Thomas, chairman of the Auckland Grammar School Board, has been reappointed representative of the New Zealand University on the board. Mr. Ernest R. Boucher, managing director of Radio, Ltd., returns by the Monterey to-morrow morning from an extended business visit to the United States. Mr. George Morten Smith, Christchurch manager of John Burns and Co., Ltd., has been appointed general manager for New Zealand, and will take up his headquarters '11 Auckland at the beginning of April. Messrs. A. M. Seaman, J. M. Elliffe and H. C'. Robinson left by the Limited, last evening for Wellington to attend the annual meeting of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. They expect to return on Saturday morning. Major-General Sir William Sinclair Burgess, general officer commanding the New Zealand military forces, and. Colonel F. Symon, director of artillery and officer commanding the central command, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning.
